Uniform
The children at Our Lady Help of Christians are very proud of their school. The purpose of the school uniform is to identify each student as a member of the community, and thereby to establish a common bond. The parents and staff together believe that wearing a simple school uniform enhances this feeling of belonging. The wearing of uniforms establishes attitudes of pride and cooperation and adds to the tone of the school. Parents are urged to ensure children wear their uniform and take pride in their appearance. As a SunSmart school during First and Fourth terms the school hat is a uniform requirement.
Our uniforms are now available at Spartan School supplies in Lower Plenty.
You can order online and they deliver to school.
We also offer second hand uniforms onsite.
Preschool to Prep Transition
Starting school is a very exciting time but it can also be a little daunting for some children. The transition from kinder to Prep is a very important part of starting school.
As part of transition the Prep teachers will make contact with the kinders to arrange a visit to touch base with the children in their familiar environment and to chat with the Kinder teachers to ensure that starting school is a happy and positive experience for everyone.
In the year prior to starting school the children have the opportunity to attend Our Lady’s on several occasions to familiarise themselves with the school and to meet other children who will also be starting school. These are informal sessions and may involve storytime, playing games, drawing and familiarising themselves with the school setting.
Later in the year the children have an orientation session with their Prep teacher in their classroom with the other children starting Prep.
Starting school for the first time can also be a little daunting for parents. We have a Parent Information session each year to help you during this very important time. It will be a time to ask any questions you may have and also to meet other parents who have children beginning school. You will make lifelong friends as the years progress and be part of a vibrant school community.
We encourage the children to attend as many of the sessions as possible.
